With the minute, it’s a product that’s dividing opinion.
As idolized because it is hated, you need seen a bit of it everywhere, on the great displeasure of the many critics, who assume that in France, Canada Goose is the new Moncler in a negative sense.
But on the opposite side of the fence, there are numerous fans who, for love nor money, would not spend a winter without their Canada Goose clothing (and who I believe only have recently joined the club ).
Important: I lived in Montreal through the end of August 2012 to June 2013, so I wore my Canada Goose Jacket Sale in different conditions (from nearly -20°C with wind, as much as 8°C when I returned to France for 3 weeks), therefore i think I have got a reasonably extensive, clear view on the quality of the product.
So, being a lover of men’s fashion, beautiful materials and good fitting clothing: what do I consider a bulky parka?
But before I report back to you, I’d prefer to spend some time to take into account Canada Goose’s brand image, that is rather ambiguous…
Hate it or love it – 50 Cents feat. The Video Game
Ah…the price. This is basically the flag the critics of Canada Goose proudly wave. For almost all haters (and trust me there are lots) you’re a sucker whenever you invest in a Canada Goose because:
The truth is, everything can be better within an ideal world if Canada Goose wasn’t so expensive, as even biggest haters are unanimous over the grade of the pieces.
Considering the grade of this product, you get a lot for the money. I’ve looked and honestly, you cannot find anything cheaper using the same quality (warning, my criteria did not just boil down to ‘it has to keep me warm’, I’ll revisit that the bit at a later time).
People often speak to me about North Face, which surprises me each and every time. As if there’s a very expensive brand, it’s that. Honestly, to pay for nearly 450 dollars to get a 100% synthetic parka (fur and down), manufactured in China, now that’s Expensive for what exactly it is. Discover more about synthetic vs down insulation here
Then there’s an issue that’s never taken into account through the critics: the cut.
Because it needs to be noted that it’s difficult to get parkas cut and also several of the Canada Goose designs. I’ve rightly said some designs, as there are some that can make you gaze such as a walking refrigerator.
walking refrigeratorSnow Mantra, 1200 Canadian dollars. It’s the warmest design, certain to make you stay warm only -60°. It’s employed by Alaskan miners and those who are employed in the oil industry in far-flung icy parts of the world. There’s a strap in the shoulder that will save you in desperate situations. You won’t look anything special using this type of on your back, but a minimum of you’ll stay alive.
military inspirationBanff, probably the most modified model of the company, having a nice enough military inspiration. It’s only flaw? No pockets to help keep your hands warm: it’s with your interest to have some gloves!
As being a side note, when you’ve spent the very last five-years looking to find the best cut items of clothing to your figure, it’s a weighty argument. Nevertheless I completely understand that it’s not always the truth for anyone. In my case, I simply can’t overlook it.
‘Yes, but you’re spending money on a brand!’
I’ll be honest with you, that’s what I thought in the first place, but it really isn’t the way it is.
Really, certainly not. As an example, Quartz Nature can be a less popular Quebec brand which has a similar prices as Canada Goose. Likewise, Kanuk, which is 100% a Quebec brand (the workshop is merely next door to my house) is a lot more expensive than Canada Goose, with prices easily exceeding the 800 dollar mark!
KanukA Quartz Nature parka, 620 dollars, by using a quality that’s equal to Canada Goose, however with a completely different brand identity for Quebecers, for the reason that products come in Quebec (french-speaking). And even at that price, nobody dares to claim that you’re only purchasing a brand…
So just why these prices? The fur which you see on the hoods is costly. As being a point of interest, Kanuk sells interchangeable furs for the hoods for between 200 and 300 dollars. And then there are no secrets: for a piece that’s not created in China, with down and quality finish, you quickly achieve the 500/600 dollar asking price, or more. It’s the true price of things.
Kanuk (The greatest Quebec coat brand, but which costs big money which is geared towards a rather older audience) has this fur strip which alone costs…270 dollars!
I’ve gone off with a slight tangent, however it seemed necessary because, i think, Canada Goose is a which is unfairly stigmatized.
Right, so what’s it genuinely like wearing a Canada Goose parka on a daily basis?
There’s no reason for drawing out the suspense: in the wintertime conditions of Montreal, it’s spectacular.
I am not surprised that this brand is provided to workers in some governmental bodies, because you obtain the feeling that its design is the result of a hellish experience with the cold.
For me personally, there are loads of brilliantly thought through details. That goes in the wire around the hood on the thick, robust zipper (a detail sometimes missing from North Face designs, hello towards the uphill battle when you’ve got gloves on) to the two pairs of pockets to your hands lined completely with fleece, without forgetting the thick fleecey chin-protector.
And does it really keep you warm?
Completely. It’s just as if you’ll never have the cold again. Even that slight morning freshness, or when you’re waiting around for the bus, or whenever you walk home after a winter’s evening out, you might be never cold. I can’t remember being cold once this winter. The security against the wind is exceptional. One weekend, I had been at a carnival in Quebec, which is to say spending six hours outside by using a temperature that’s approaching the -20°s, but with some wind (I have no idea simply how much this g0ose the way the temperature feels, but say at the very least an extra -10°) and it needs to be noted that you’re protected perfectly through the cold. Even at -20°. Even the length of the zipper remains safe and secure, which suggests the wind just never gets nearby the inside of your parka.
What’s more, the hood is super well made, and even when you don’t put it up, it protects your ears. Basically this hood that protects the head perfectly from high winds is actually great, really effective.
Alternatively, these aren’t the clothes to get a sustained sporting activity. If you’re skiing at -15° and it’s windy, you’re bound to sweat. Originally, Canada Goose Sale were made for workers doing a lot of standing around (which explains why bouncers love the brand). Extreme mountain climbers tend to get brands like PHD, with equally impressive technical features. The Wiggy brand has some completely fire-proof parkas…
Nonetheless we’re still lightyears away from a Wooyoungmi coat getting an absolutely perfect cut. But having tested a couple of, Canada Goose is just one of those rare parka brands to cherish the cut of a selection of their designs. So I was surprised to discover the shoulders of Banff, Chateau, Ontario and Citadel designs (by far the most ‘tight-fitting’ designs, all things relative) have been labored on and so are relatively high. If chosen well to your size, the parka doesn’t hang off your shoulders, it’s neat and tidy.
Finally, and that i was surprised, it usually is the case using the most urban pieces that the size S can be a ‘true S’. Similarly, Canada Goose even does a size XS that is good to understand.
