I grew up just south of Stanthorpe, even though it’s a beautiful place, and i also fully recommend a visit there, let me tell you, in the winter months it can get quite cold!

I used to be a certain amount of wussy little kid (now I’m a wussy adult) even though I don’t mind the climate being cold, I personally don’t like being cold. And So I had a power blanket. Sometimes I’d “forget” to transform it well, yet still be toasty warm and hesitant to put my toes out to the -5 mornings…

Therefore I are aware of the appeal of an electric blanket, and exactly how nice it is actually for something different to become keeping you warm on those quite chilly nights. However, it isn’t really healthy for you.

The major reason electric blankets aren’t healthy is the obvious one: it’s a fire risk. Because they’re folded / rolled up half the year, and on a bed with bodies lying ahead and obtaining wrinkled for portion of the year, the wiring can be put under a fair level of stress. As we grow older, the insulation throughout the wires may become brittle or broken, which can lead to shocks to the sleeper, or short-circuits and potential fires.

Of course, the 2nd the easy way reduce these risks would be to turn off the electrical blanket before you get in bed, or at best within five minutes of having in. This will also prevent b1ankets in the center of the night time inside a hot sweat… something I have got done frequently as being a forgetful child!

You’ll note I’ve said these choices second best. That’s because the best option is obviously to never make use of an electric blanket by any means.

The other choices there? Well, there’s always that lovely standby, the recent water bottle. These are generally awesome, cheap, you can get really cute and cosy covers for these people, and so they possess the added bonus that you can use them as being a COLD water bottle in summer.
